  • Desiring God Conference and Lunch with John (PIPER)

I  am still in Minneapolis and  I don't have much time to write, but  I had lunch with John Piper today.  Not in the 200 people had lunch with Piper, but about 16 people having lunch and then we chatted in the living with about 6 of us about the conference and church planting, and such.  I have been staying in his basement while at the conference.  Yes, in his basement.   The conference has been great.

I have to go now, but it has been cool.  Please don't hate me.

  • Hey everyone, we have a couple of wonderful opportunities to let you know about this summer:

    • summerstudy: a collegiate pursuit of God
    • Summer Leadership Program

summerstudy: a collegiate pursuit of God
summerstudy exists as an opportunity for collegians to invest their summers into knowing God deeply and allowing that knowledge to transform their lives.  We will be reading and discussing Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer, a man who pursued God faithfully, knew Him well and who will serve as our guide while pursuing God this summer.  Cost: $5 for the book, due at first class

When: Study Begins Wednesday, June 7th @ 7:30pm and runs for 8 weeks
Where: BSM building on the UNT Campus
    Email villageu@thevillagechurch.net to sign up.

    Summer Leadership Program
We have many new things on tap for the summer and upcoming school year and we need you to pull it off.  This will be a great opportunity for you to participate in shaping the college ministry this coming year.  We will have opportunities for leadership in home groups, international students outreach, collegiate men’s and women’s ministries, events, athletics and we will have many opportunities for service in an entirely reworked, rescheduled, and relocated collegiate bible study in the fall.  We will need A/V people, musicians, vocalists, etc.

What will we do in the Summer Leadership Program?  We will spend some time on vision casting, what it means to be a leader, identifying your gifts, and equipping you for your ministry.  Afterwards we will spend some time hanging out and growing together.  Maybe the Tomato, play some ultimate, or just walk the campus in prayer.

When: Wednesdays beginning June 7th at 9:00pm, and running for 8 weeks.
Where: BSM building on the UNT campus

Sign ups:  You must sign up ahead of time!  Email jvanhorn@thevillagechurch.net with the following:  Name, phone number, and email address.  You will receive a response with a few specific questions.  This will help us in determining your giftings, passions, and to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into.
